HOW IT WORKS: GETTING STARTED & MAKING AN APPT

During the COVID-19 crisis, I am able to work with clients via telehealth video session or by phone. When we are safely able to engage in person again, I will resume seeing clients in the office. If you’d like to remain on a telehealth platform, that will also be available. If you have any questions regarding telehealth, please feel free to reach out.

Initial Consultation

I am more than happy to provide a free 20 minute consultation for those interested in beginning therapy with me. During the consultation I will answer any questions you may have about therapy, cost of treatment, myself, and my approach in session. I may also ask you questions regarding issues you would like to work on in therapy and general availability for scheduling an intake.

First Appointment and Follow Up

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, I am currently seeing all clients via telehealth or by phone. I use an encrypted HIPAA-compliant video platform which allows us to meet confidentially and virtually. I will send paperwork prior to the intake appointment. Please read through the documents and fill out to the best of your ability. Paperwork must be filled out prior to meeting.

The first appointment or intake session is a great opportunity for me to get to know you and for you to get a sense of how I may be helpful for you. You are encouraged to ask any questions and voice any concerns around the therapeutic process. I will do my best to help you feel understood and heard. After this first appointment, we can schedule a follow up session.

I meet with most clients weekly or bi-weekly (every other week). The duration of therapy solely depends on client wants, needs, and treatment goals. We can also adjust our meetings according to these needs— initially, we might meet weekly, and as you progress, we might move to bi-weekly or even monthly.

Scheduling and Missed Appointments

Once your appointment time is made, it is reserved for you. In order to provide consistent care and access to services for current and waitlisted clients, I ask that cancellations are made with 24 hours notice. If you need to reschedule your appointment, no worries. Please ask with 24 hours notice and I will do my best to accommodate you. Clients who cannot provide 24 hours notice or who do not show up for a session are responsible for the full fee of their missed session. Please remember, out-of-network reimbursement will not reimburse for any missed sessions.

Getting in Contact

You can reach me by filling out the contact form page. You can also reach out via email at meghan@temperancetherapies.com or by phone at 612-367-7286. I will do my best to respond within 48 hours. After that time, if you are worried I did not receive your initial message, please feel free to reach out again. If I am not able to accommodate you, I will provide a list of referrals and resources in the area so that you can find a different provider. In your message, please provide some information about what you would like to work on together in therapy, so I can respond accordingly or provide you with best resources elsewhere.
